My blog is not functioning well

I tried to update my blog about a week ago and either blogger.com or my computer was being a beast so I gave up. Just wanted to shout out that summer was ending and school was beginning another year. I have a new room with new appliances, desks, chairs, cabinets and hopefully soon new computers, active board, and projector. In the mean time I am trying to get used to my industrial freezer and refrigerator in my classroom as they are really loud and I feel like I am yelling at my kids. I lost my voice partially this week and I hope it comes back really quickly. I have tried resting it all weekend but I don't feel like its getting any better. And I don't want to visit the doctor about it. Im not coughing or anything but I did have a bout of strep the week before school started. I didn't have time to visit the doctor so I took the left over antibiotics that we have in the cabinet here and it worked. I think! Well hopefully this post will go through. Have a great start of the school year.

Been a while

Its been a while since my last posting.  Lots of family time has been well spent. We couldn't go anywhere this year because our budget is tight with me trying to work on my masters but we did sneak away to Holiday World in Santa Claus, In. I really dislike amusement parks mainly due to the crowds and heat but I REALLY had a great time. I know Allie did, even though she couldn't understand why she had to wait in line with other people to ride the rides. We even stood in line 15 minutes to be told she was 1" shorter then the expected height. When she went for her 2 year check-up she was 36" but according to Holiday World she is 35".  Needless to say that was the last time we stood in line with a sign that said 36" and up!! Their splash park was PERFECT for kids her age and she was even able to ride the lazy river with Mom and Dad. We rode a train, buggie, merry-go-round, carosel, and water slides. I can't wait to make this a family tradition. It was really great!!

We have also been enjoying the pool at the house this year. We finally were able to replace the liner (yes, Chris and I did this ourselves after watching several Youtube videos on how-to). Here is a cute pic I snapped of Daddy and Allie! Gotta go, she's waking up from nap time!

I know what many people might think when it comes to Dumpster Diving including myself but if you knew the "deal" Chris and I got this past weekend you would be lets say.....jealous! We were on our way home from taking Biscuit out to eat for her Birthday. Yeah, she begged us for Shogun so we had to take her!!!! HaHa!! So we took the long way home to look at the scenery and a bridge they were building....not my idea but when there is heavy duty construction going on it turns a man on....apparently. Just kidding. So after the debut of the bridge sighting I noticed this beautiful neighborhood that looked pretty new, now Im turned on, so I made a big U-E and had to check it out. So as we were driving through and there was this guy dragging all of this toddler "Little Tikes" and "Step2" items to the road like he was....gasp...throwing them away.  So I pulled up and said "Are you throwing these away?" and he replied that his kids had outgrown them and just needed to get rid of them. So we packed up an awesome slide that I know I priced at $45 at Walmart and a climbing thing (w/ a slide) that I know probably cost $100 or more. So Chris and I got it home and he pressured washed it and it looks good as new. Then 2 days later an awesome swing set showed up at the house from a good friend of Biscuit's because she is getting a NEW one. We really lucked out on the outdoor entertainment. Yay us!! The moral of the story, when Biscuit outgrows this we should give it away to another little Tike that could use it!!!

Happy Spring!!

Yes, it is offically Spring Break. This time last year I had a HUGE "to-do" list. This year, I didn't even think to make one. That is really bad. So Im making one as we go along. Clean out house of items we no longer use or need for a Yard Sale in May, get Allie's birthday stuff ready, spring clean house, work on  classroom (my new room will be ready in a few weeks and I need to start moving or packing). I guess that is about it. I am looking forward to some sleep too. Not that I need a whole lot but just a few extra hours.

Allie is starting to say new words like cat, bird, dog, side (for outside), and some Spanish words that she is getting from Dora the Explorer. Her FAVORITE!!!

Spring is here!

It's been so warm here that spring is early this year. Allie  is loving the weather and being outside but trying to get her back in the house is a chore. She will cry and scream just like a typical two year old. But I knowledge are all liking forward to some backyard time this summer. We just have to get our yard cleaned up and pretty. It's a mess. The last two summers we have spent working on the front yard which also needs a slight makeover because weeds have taken over the new landscaping. We need to plant some trees in the back yard because we have no shade making it difficult to be back there for long. I will take some before and after pics to post at the end of the summer.

Feeding the "Duhs"

Allie loves feeding the ducks or 'duhs" as she calls them. The weather on Saturday was terrific. So I took the few slices of bread we had left and traveled over thepark and let Allie see the ducks. I really fed them. She doesn't have the mobility to throw the bread in the water. Its more of throwing it on the ground.  There is a neighborhood near our house that is fairly new.....it looks like one day it will be gated but they have a HUGE pond with a dock and some geese. When I first discovered it over the fall I thought this would be a perfect place to take Allie to feed the ducks. But Im afraid the 3 houses that live in it will say something about us on their land. We went over there but they must have flown south for the winter.

Christmas break come to an end.

• Tomorrow is back to reality. Four the next eight weeks I will be taking 6hours of masters classes. I had to set this up because at the time there were no classes offered during the second biterm. But now there are so Im debating on taking an eight week break or getting one more step ahead and bite the bullet. Tomorrow I have all new students. Last semester I had the best kids ever and Im really going to miss them. I really hope I have a good crew this go around.
